Modafin is a psychostimulant produced by Alpha Pharma which contains the active substance Modafinil. It was first developed for the treatment of narcolepsy, a condition in which people suddenly fall asleep during the day.
Today, Modafinil is used to treat conditions other than narcolepsy that also cause daytime sleepiness. People also use it to treat memory and attention deficit disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, and depression.
PROPERTIES AND EFFECTS OF MODAFINIL
Modafinil works differently to amphetamine and ephedrine or other similar psychostimulants. Modafinil affects different parts of the brain and increases the speed of mental reactions. This effect is to do with the lower part of the diencephalon, the hypothalamus, where nerve pathways are activated, in which the action of orexin / hypocretins is realized, which plays an important role in the regulation of sleep-wakefulness as intermediary substances.
Modafinil is classified as a doping drug but the effect it has on athletic performance has not been studied, however, it is believed to improve the endurance and speed of an athlete. It is used in bodybuilding to reduce body fat because it has an appetite suppressing effect.
The standard dose of Modafinil is 200mg (1 tablet) per day.
It should be taken with water in the morning to ensure that the effects are felt throughout the day and it also prevents sleeplessness at night-time.
